Paragraph 5 - Re-write

Social media sites are generally run through UGC, this means that they tend to work off of what people are uploading and sharing on the sites. what this does, is that it allows the user to feel like they have control in what they are uploading and sharing, as they have the power to share their values and opinions freely. This is what the user are made to believe, with all sites they have certain boundaries that are set in order to make sure that all content is safe. if a user was to upload something offence e.g. if a user on Facebook or Instagram was to write a rude comment or a sexually explicit image, the site can take the comment or image down without having to tell the user. This shows that new and digital media has allowed audience to gain power, but only to a small extent. As it is the institutions that are in control of what happens and what is shown the the public.

The change in media

"The last 20 years have been more significant in the terms of the media and its role in society than the whole of the previous 200 years."

I agree with this statement to a certain extent as there is so much more media content that audiences have to access than there was in previous years. This shows that media has a lot more power in society now than it did before. However I still believe that previous years have had an influence on how media is seen and used in the current day and age, for example in the 1980's the release of 24 hour news, this led to a revolution in how people saw news. Overall, I believe that the past 20 years have had made a great change in how people use media.

Oculus Rift: 'virtual reality is still niche - it's hard to service millions'

The latest Gear VR device turns a smartphone into a virtual reality headset - but why partner with Samsung to create a rival to your own product?
this article is about a new product that Samsung and Oculus want to release. It's a virtual reality headset that connects to your phone (Samsung S4). They haven't officially released this product yet, due to them still making changes to it in order to increase the satisfaction received from the product. They are allowing people to use the product so that they can see what needs to be improved and what they can add to it.
Facts:
 - Attaches to the Galaxy S4
 - Oculus teamed up with Samsung, because their phones have the technolgy that allow the Rift to work properly
 - They are still altering what the end product will look like
As in the article, i also believe that this product will have a niche market (gamer market) as the Rift will not appeal to everyone, as they may see it as a inconvenient product. However I still think that this product will be very successful when it has been completely finished.

http://news.sky.com/story/1333072/critics-blown-away-by-apple-watch-launch#

I watch

I Phone 6
The article talks about the release of the new I phone 6 and the I Watch and the new technology that has been added to the two new devices. They have also added why other similar devices released by other companies such as a Android and why Apple have been able to be successful with these products.

Facts

             iWatch and iPhone 6

- Touch ID

- WI - FI chip
-  4.7 " iPhone 6
- 5.5 " iPhone 6 plus
- resolution iPhone 6 = 1334 x 750
- resolution iPhone 6 plus = 1920 x 1080

I think the two new products that Apple have released will make many sales, due to the mass amount of technology that has been put in to them both and the sleek design of both of them. Furthermore Apple have added features to their products that a lot of other smart phones don't have.

State Department orders 5,000 BODY BAGS and 160,000 hazmat suits for African Ebola outbreak as Obama sends 100 CDC experts

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2756832/State-Department-orders-5-000-BODY-BAGS-160-000-hazmat-suits-African-Ebola-outbreak-Obama-sends-100-CDC-experts.html

this article is based on the breakout of Ebola, a virus that has broken out in western Africa. The article focuses more on the amount of body bags that were purchased and the hazmat suits that have been ordered in due to the virus.

Facts:

- 5,000 body bags
- 160,000 Hazmat suits
- 1000 people had died
- death toll = 2,400+

Personally, I believe that if the USA AID had acted faster and attended the situation when it had first come across, they wouldn't be required to spend so much. Furthermore the death toll would have been much lower, as the virus wouldn't have spread so much. However the virus has now spread in to a range of different nations and could eventually become a worldwide disaster.
